God’s Calling

Throughout the Scriptures we see God calling out people to be leaders. We see people like Moses, David, and Isaiah among many others called out by God Himself in what seems to be dramatic fashion. But as I have heard many sermons, listened to others and studied the Scriptures we can see that God prepares us for a long time to be called out at a certain point in time.

As I discerned my own call to vocational ministry in my 20’s I experienced and saw God at work. I had a two-year assignment in Orlando, Florida assisting church planters. It was exciting for me to see people come to know Jesus Christ, be disciples and become leaders in the churches where I was serving. As I look back on my life I see these two years as a season of preparation.

Since September 2005, I have been serving as a Church Planting Catalyst in Wisconsin. Over the years I have been involved in assessing many potential church planters and their wives. I have heard many different stories of how God has called them to salvation and to be called into service.

One phrase I really like to hear people say: “God is calling me.” That way I know they are wrestling with a divine call on their life. In Galatians 1:1 the Apostle Paul says he was not called by men but by God himself. I truly believe that as followers of Christ we all need to discern the call of God and follow him. I pray the launch of Follow the Call will be an aide in helping you to discover God’s call upon your life and for you to hear the voice of the Master and follow His call upon your life.
